David Biespiel
Poet, novelist, critic, memoirist, and painter, David Biespiel has published fourteen books, most recently Beautiful Is the World: New and Selected Poems, 1996-2026. Biespiel — pronounced bye-speel — is a recipient of National Endowment for the Arts, Lannan, and Stegner fellowships, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award, two Oregon Book awards, and he’s been a finalist for National Book Critics Circle Balakian citation. He teaches in the graduate MFA Program at Oregon State University, where he is Poet in Residence. A contributor to The New Republic, Poetry, American Poetry Review, and The New Yorker, among other magazines, he has given readings and lectures on poetry and poetics throughout the U.S. and abroad.
