Saturday Poetry Workshop II: Open Forms w John Morrison | Nov 16

“Originality relies on a deep knowledge of traditions.” TS Eliot

In this session, we’ll open up and explore archetypal forms that power great poetry. We’ll consider the music and strategy of model poems, and then through generative activities, we’ll draft our version of several open forms, such as the Aubade, Letter, List, Ode, and Elegy. We’ll all leave the session with a greater appreciation and deeper understanding of our poetic tradition, and take home potent drafts to polish and shine. Come ready to read, discuss, and scribble away! | Maximum: 14 writers

[Note: This workshop is designed to be paired with John's Strict Forms workshop in Session I. Poets are welcome to take both, or just one.]
