This is primarily a workshop of student’s work but will also include outside reading assignments and in-class discussions around story. Students will workshop their work at least once, and also lead a discussion around a particular story or essay for the class. Our focus is storytelling in all its forms and possibilities including the formal elements of narrative, including voice, point of view, characterization, imagery, plot, and theme. I’d also to explore form, particularly fiction and nonfiction stories that inhabit different vessels, such as letters, instructions, rants, and so forth.
