SUMMER: Edward Derby's Poetry Workshop | July 30 - Aug 27

Finding the Truth in a Lie: Writing Poetry of Paradox, Persona, Non-sequitur, and Fallacy.

In this poetry workshop we will write and workshop your poems. Assignments and discussions will invite an investigation of where sense emerges from logical tension. Is the speaker the poet? Can a rhyme make trouble? What if you personify the furniture? Make false claims? We'll experiment with the unexpected, how insight and metaphor can spring from reversals, and from words and images energized with tension. Each week will bring a new writing assignment and an examination of published poems to help establish a frame of reference for work-shopping your poems. | Maximum writers: 12
