A few years ago, a friend of mine told me about this online magazine about writing and money. It was called Scratch, it sounded terrific, and by the time I went looking for it, they'd already stopped publishing it.
Now, happily, Scratch has been reincarnated as a book. Scratch: Writers, Money, and the Art of Making a Living is a collection of interviews and essays about the endless tug-of-war between pursuing your passion and putting bread on the table. Established and rising authors confront the question: How do creative people make money?
If your Monday night is still open, there will be a panel discussion about Scratch - in which Martin will be joined by author-contributors Cheryl Strayed, Cari Luna, Kevin Sampsell, and A. M. O’Malley - at Powell's City of Books. That's Monday, February 27 at 7:30 PM. Free!
