WINTER: Kate Carroll de Gutes' Personal Essay Workshop | Jan 26 - Feb 23

"I mean that I was in love with the city, the way you love the first person who ever touches you and you never love anyone quite that way again." ~ Joan Didion

Changing Point of View in Essays with the Command of Second Person: Consider the ways changing point of view from first to second person can transform an essay from something that is simply about the writer’s experience to a piece that completely engages the reader and encourages them to enter fully into the story. Class will be a mix of experiential prompts that get you working in second person to looking at text in second person and how it radically alters a reader's perception.
