NEW: Merridawn Duckler's Craft of Fiction Workshop | Sep 18 - Oct 16

“Everything I know about human nature, I learned from myself.” Anton Chekhov

Character development in fiction is at the root of short stories When you create compelling, multi-dimensional characters, your stories take on a life you never expected — and the discoveries are essential. In this workshop we will focus on developing characters and story arcs. Using your writing we will discuss the differences between plot driven and a character driven short stories. We will emphasize discovering where the story starts, whose story it is, and expanding a story's dramatic potential by narrowing its focus. We will review contemporary short stories for inspiration and practical advice, and critique student stories according to their designs and ambitions. | Maximum: 12 writers
